{"id":139,"date":"2006-03-23T14:32:55","date_gmt":"2006-03-23T14:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irdial.com\/blogdial\/?p=139"},"modified":"2006-03-23T15:00:41","modified_gmt":"2006-03-23T15:00:41","slug":"teacher-wins-police-dna-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irdial.com\/blogdial\/?p=139","title":{"rendered":"Teacher wins police DNA battle???"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><strong>A teacher accused of hitting a child with a ruler, but never prosecuted, has won a legal battle to have her DNA sample and fingerprints destroyed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Philippa Jones, from Birmingham, was arrested in June last year following allegations she hit a boy aged eight.<\/p>\n<p>The High Court said her DNA sample, fingerprints and photograph should have been destroyed within 28 days.<\/p>\n<p>She will also receive \u00a3250 damages from West Midlands Police for false imprisonment and assault.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/uk_news\/england\/west_midlands\/4837206.stm\"><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What the question now is: Have they been destroyed and who can verify that they have?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m under no illusions about the police will have, in all probability, retained  this womans fingerprints and DNA on their database despite her &#8216;victory&#8217; in the courts.
