{"id":174,"date":"2006-04-09T09:47:28","date_gmt":"2006-04-09T09:47:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irdial.com\/blogdial\/?p=174"},"modified":"2006-04-09T09:47:28","modified_gmt":"2006-04-09T09:47:28","slug":"pinot-no","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irdial.com\/blogdial\/?p=174","title":{"rendered":"Pinot No!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reading <a href=\"http:\/\/arts.guardian.co.uk\/features\/story\/0,,1742617,00.html\">an article by the Grauniad&#8217;s Art Critic<\/a>, he states that his daughter&#8217;s name is Primavera.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the recent trend for naming children such things as Chanel, Chardonnay&#8230; even, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simpletoremember.com\/what\/BrandNameBaby.htm\">in the US at least<\/a> &#8220;Chanel (269  girls), Timberland (six boys), Porsche (24 girls) and Armani (273 boys and 298  girls).<\/p>\n<p>Parents named their children after everything from bottled water (Evian) and  soft drinks (Fanta) to Western hats and cologne (Stetson), wine (Chardonnay) and  beer (Guinness)&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8230; even with these bizarre choices, Primavera struck me as the most pretentious of the lot. I imagine Mr Jones sneering at the hordes of Chardonnays in Essex from his oh-so-chi-chi Islington terrace, while smug over his choice of pasta dish (or season &#8211; take your pick).<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s just me.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, perhaps all children will be named after a favourite vegetable.
