{"id":536,"date":"2006-12-15T09:37:48","date_gmt":"2006-12-15T09:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irdial.com\/blogdial\/?p=536"},"modified":"2006-12-15T09:37:48","modified_gmt":"2006-12-15T09:37:48","slug":"millions-may-resist-database-says-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irdial.com\/blogdial\/?p=536","title":{"rendered":"Millions may resist database, says poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telegraph Online<\/p>\n<p><i>By Philip Johnston, Home Affairs Editor<\/i><br \/>\nLast Updated: 2:33am GMT 04\/12\/2006<\/p>\n<p>The first signs of a significant popular revolt against the Government&#8217;s identity card scheme have been uncovered by a YouGov poll for The Daily Telegraph.<\/p>\n<p>It suggests that hundreds of thousands of people, maybe even millions, would refuse to register on the proposed database that will underpin the scheme, even if this meant a fine or going to jail.<\/p>\n<p>Despite ministerial claims during the passage of the ID Cards Act through parliament that there was widespread public support for the multi-billion pound plan, the opinion survey shows a country split in two on the issue.
