All this hysteria about "biological warfare" is starting to tick me off. Firstly, anthrax is not contagious. Variants might be, but this strain is not, it's normal anthrax. Secondly, these haven't been shown to have any connection to anything, so why don't people stop flipping out while actual investigators figure it out? Thirdly, even if this WAS a terrorist act, they would not likely do anything worse... and chances are this is just some bad seeds trying to scare people. The entire point of terrorism is terror, nothing more. Any terrorist will want people to go into hysteria and chaos, and that's exactly what people are doing. People freaking out and not making rational decisions is exactly the purpose of terrorism. It's about not knowing what will happen next, and it's designed to "terrorize" people, hence the name. Same thing with people feeling victimized about the attacks, they're succumbing to what the terrorists' actual goals are... simple chaos and knee-jerk reactions.

BREAKING NEWS from CNN.com
-- An NBC employee in New York has tested positive for anthrax. Details soon.

------------------------------------------------------
NEW YORK (CNN) -- NBC officials confirmed Friday that an employee at NBC in Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan has tested positive for a skin anthrax infection. The employee is in good condition and expected to recover, according to NBC executives. "Today we learned that one of our employees at 30 Rockefeller Center has tested positive for the cutaneous (skin) anthrax infection," according to a note to NBC employees from NBC chairman Bob Wright and NBC president Andy Lack. "It is important to note that this is not the same respiratory anthrax that has been reported in the news. Obviously, we are concerned for the employee's well-being. She has received treatment and is responding well. She is in no danger, and she should recover fully and completely. The Department of Health is coordinating her ongoing care."
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , the FBI, and the New York City Department of Health are investigating.

Cutaneous anthrax is not as serious as inhalation anthrax.

-----------------------------------------------
inhalation anthrax: inhaling anthrax spores can bring on the disease if the spores go deep into the lungs, especially in people who already have a respiratory infection, like a cold. the florida man who died of anthrax apparently contracted the inhaled form.

1. when inhaled, dormant spores travel from the lungs to the lymph nodes in the chest. the bacteria begin to germinate and release toxins that kill cells and cause fluid to build up outside the lungs.
2. as the bacteria begin to spread, they secrete a lethal exotoxin that damages lung tissue, causing blood vessels to break. the bacteria then enter the bloodstream.
3. fluid buildup outside the lung can result in severe breathing difficulty and restrict the bodys oxygen supply. this is followed by shock and coma. in some cases, brain inflammation develops.

treatment: unless diagnosed quickly and treated with antibiotics, most cases of inhalation anthrax are fatal. once symtoms occur, it is usually too late for drugs to work.

cutaneous anthrax: accounts for 95 percent of cases. spreads through skin on contact. it appears as a skin lesion that is eventually covered by a black scab. the disease produces headaches, muscle aches, fever, nausea and vomiting

treatment: antibiotics are effective. untreated, about 20 percent of cases result in death

*symtoms usually appear 12 hours to 5 days after exposure to all forms of anthrax

Well Mrs. Kean isn't that attractive. Porn stars rarely are. Notice that her hands are very unattractive. Do you know the US sitcom 'Dharma & Greg'? Have you ever noticed just how HUGE 'Dharma's' hands are? Once you see it, that show will never be the same again.
B.t.w. thinking of that freak-fuelled Friday, I completely forgot to tell you about the satanic performance I saw in between the art opening and the Kean-Clone. I was brought to a backyard building - an old factory - by one of my very good friends and colleague. There I witnessed a Native American satanic reverend, recite protests and damnations on America. Standing stripped down to his underpants, he wore sunglasses and a native Indian medicine man hat (I presume). Behind him a huge Star Spangled Banner hung upside down. To his right a mid-thirties man, dressed entirely as Danish Blue cub-scout tweaked the knobs on a little patchable synth running a looping pattern. As the reverend recited from his book, he opened packets of syringe needles and pierced his breast area with them. Eventually he ran out of needles. He then proceeded to take the standard Star Spangled Banner paper flags (the ones you would give to children to wave with when the president come to town) and mount them to the needles. He then bend down over some burning candles, and lid the paper flags - while still reciting, mind you. Very effortlessly he removed the burning flags before they burned him - while still reciting uninterrupted from his book. He had obviously done this before. As he removed the syringe needles, blood ran down his big belly. The Goth crowd cheered frantically as he left the stage. 'It was fantastic!' as one told me, and yes - it was.
When we where about to leave, my friend couldn't find his bag with his iBook. It was stolen during the concert.

The Rough Trade branch of music stores have announced plans to stock only the new Aphex Twin album 'Drukqs' on the day of its release, in specially redisigned shops.

When it goes on-sale in two weeks time, the long-awaited - not to mention long - Aphex album will dominate both Rough Trade stores in Talbot Road and Neal's Yard shops.

The last time they did this was in 1977 for The Sex Pistols' 'Never Mind The Bollocks'.

Other retailers are also strengthening their shops shelving to support copies of 'Drukqs' which, consisting of 4 pieces of super-heavyweight vinyl, weighs two kg and comes in a specially designed two metre wide cardboard sleeve.

Pound for pound, 'Drukqs' is the heaviest record ever made.

According to Aphex Twin's label, Warp Records, the first ten ton shipment is being despatched in an articulated lorry from Warp HQ next week.

The composer Pekka Airaksinen - Builder of Worlds

Through Pekka Airaksinen's music we can seek content for that primary collection of images, where from compositions - world of sounds in general - have arisen; i.e. "primary pictures", myths and different levels of time.

I have been a great admirer of the music of Pekka "Acu" Airaksinen for decades, and I wrote down the above sentence one time, when I was once again wondering how to describe his music. As a music maker Airaksinen has always followed his own paths, that are completely unique from both national and international viewpoint. It is possible to classify him as a trans avantgardist, who, according to the terminology of today, makes music "ambiente". At the same time his compositions can be considered a sort of miniature symphonies in a non-academic sense.

The early works of Pekka Airaksinen include some legendary underground music, released for instance on the records Shh! and Samsa Trio, which today are rare and valuable collectors items. Airaksinen calls his way of playing and composing at that time, mainly intuitive. His style inspired also Steven Stapleton (Nurse with Wound), who has mentioned Pekka Airaksinen as one of his favourite composers. Airaksinen also examined and analysed the secrets of classical composing; like Bach, Messiaen and Debussy.

The intuitive period was followed by a "mathematical" approach giving form to his intuitive style of playing. Airaksinen developed a style that sounded something like a folk musician playing avantgarde with synthesizers; the compositions have a rich content of meanings hidden deep in the structures of rhythm and intervals. This is combined with a straight forward, often humorous, studio-live style. There is a great feeling of spontaneity, though creating the right mental and spiritual atmosphere for the recordings may take several days.

"Music is similar to life. You have to get it right at the first time", says Airaksinen, whose typical approach to recording is like Zen. All the recordings are first takes, without corrections from other takes.

During the 70's Airaksinen's compositions got many new dimensions. In addition to old mythical themes (like Sisyphus), Egyptian, Greek and Finnish archetypes there was an amazing collection of other themes. Compositions were made for vitamins, constellations, and many great persons, like Mahatma Gandhi, Sigmund Freud and Marilyn Monroe! The five hundred Buddhas of the past and many Tibetan deities also got a composition (each!).

During the recent years (1994-1997) Airaksinen has made several CD's for Dharmakustannus, like Milk Sea, Inner Galaxies, Jewel Comet, Mangala and Paramitas. Inspired by the new possibilities of the new technology, Airaksinen uses many techniques to modify sounds and their different qualities. This is done in a self-willed and extraordinary style, often revealing the great humorist inside this peaceful composer, who has never fitted into any category.

"New things are essential; the soundscape can be similar but the range of thoughts is different than before. I have tried to break all conditioning, like conceptions about time and place, and Anglo-Saxon and Afro-American traditions. Not to make it an end in itself, but to find a more universal way of composing. The music is not intended to be listened to only with ears, but also with eyes. It creates mental images, and it may act as a source of active meditation. Making music is collecting knowledge and experience. Music and mantras resemble each other; both contain wisdom and knowledge. I make a lot of music with a specific content, trying to include different meanings in them, and people can find also their own thoughts in them. A composition is like a world, and these worlds with contents meet each other on the records. Many of my recent CD's were released in a CD-R format, in small editions like graphic sheets. The mixing can change between editions, so that the listener can purchase a kind of unique specimen for himself."

The aim of the music of Pekka Airaksinen is to clarify the mind, making the listener to open windows to new unknown worlds. This is made possible by his huge production, hundreds of hours of music. A small part is available, and new releases are looked forward to.

It's official: "Jedi Knight" is ON the list of religions for the 2001 UK census.

A campaign to get people to write the entry on their census forms has succeeded in the term being included on the list of religions, alongside Church of England, Roman Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu.

Sufficient numbers of people wrote the entry in for it to be allocated its own code for the census processing team to use.

But officials from the Office of National Statistics are keen to point out that just because Jedi Knight has been given its own code, that does not confer on it the status of official recognition.

"We are not defining what a religion or a faith might be," a spokeswoman said. "We are recognising what some may have entered on their census form and ensuring that our coding framework will cater for it."

Other religions which are included on the list, alongside the better known cases, are the Church of Free Love, Wiccan, Divine Lightmission, and Coleraine Christian Centre.

Shortly before the census last April, an e-mail was circulated in the UK stating that if 10,000 people put Jedi on the census form, it would become a "fully recognised and legal religion".

A similar thing had previously happened in New Zealand, when citizens were led to believe they needed 8,000 signatures to make Jedi an official religion.

The list of religions - posted on the statistics office website, and available under "Internet links" - is simply the list of answers to the religion question.

It is not yet clear how many people will have written Jedi on their form, as the counting process is still going on. Results are to be published in Autumn 2002.

And even then, the information might not easy to obtain, as it will not be published separately in the official census reports released by the statistics office. Anyone wishing to find out the number would need to commission a special report to be produced.

Also on the list Druidism, Satanism, Free thinker, Wicca, Celtic, Pagan.

Physicists Create New State Of Matter
At Record Low Temperature

Physicists in Boulder, Colo., have achieved a temperature far lower than has ever been produced before and created an entirely new state of matter predicted decades ago by Albert Einstein and Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose.

Cooling rubidium atoms to less than 170 billionths of a degree above absolute zero caused the individual atoms to condense into a "superatom" behaving as a single entity, said Eric Cornell and Carl Wieman of JILA, a joint program of the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Before photographing the superatom, the physicists cooled the atoms to 20 billionths of a degree above absolute zero, the lowest temperature ever achieved.

"It really is a new state of matter," Wieman said. "It has completely different properties from any other kind of matter."

"This state could never have existed naturally anywhere in the universe," added Cornell. "So the sample in our lab is the only chunk of this stuff in the universe, unless it is in a lab in some other solar system."

SYRIA HAS BEEN GIVEN A SEAT ON THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL!!!!!!!

This means that anything immoral requiring a rubber stamp will now automatically be vetoed. It will now be impossible to keep hammering Iraq (or anyone else) with approval of the UN.

This is so staggering, so important, and so unbelievable, that I almost fell off my chair when I heard it. The 21st century started not when the Twin Towers were bombed, but when Syria got a seat on the UN Security Council. Just you watch!

South Africa was forced to give up apartheid by the world refusing to have anything to do with them; they were shut off form the world, and this strangling action caused the regime to wither and die. The unthinkable happened, and Nelson Mandela became the president of the country. This was possible largely because the regime in South Africa had identical goals and aspirations to the people who were putting on the pressure.

This approach may not work with people who have goals and aspirations that are different from the source of the pressure. A different approach is be needed.

It is said that in Afghanistan women have no more rights than do animals. This means that they are for all intents and purposes, slaves. If the west opened its doors to people from Afghanistan (!) who wanted to leave that country, Afghanistan would quickly be bled dry of its most vital resource; its young people.

No country could survive a mass exodus of its young people, and this would terminally cripple the country. Those women, who cannot escape for fear of death could be helped to leave by an "underground railroad", in the same way that opponents of slavery helped millions of slaves in the united states escape the south.

The country would be so damaged by this process that it would be changed forever by virtue of the fact that everyone who had the chance to leave had left.

The country would either flounder and collapse completely, or survive in a new form, attracting people who desire to live in a place that is run as Afghanistan is run.

Either way, bombing is the ultimate expression of failure; failure to imagine different solutions, failure of will to carry them out and an absolute failure of the worldwide institutions that were created to put an end to war forever.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Angered at leaks from classified briefings, President Bush ordered key department heads last week to restrict their briefings of members of Congress to the four major leaders and the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees, sources told CNN on Monday.

He also called the four leaders to explain his decision and said he was furious that sensitive intelligence material that was shared with Congress was being repeated to the news media, two sources familiar with the calls told CNN.

The top Democrats in Congress, Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota, and House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, D-Missouri, expressed approval of the new policy.

"The president told me about it, and I agree," Daschle said. "It's unfortunate, but there's no choice. Some people just can't resist talking."

Now this "war" will be fought in secret, no one in opposition has access to the mass media, so the coalition can do whatever they want, wherever they want, and if anyone talks, its thier word against the president of the usa's word. Incredible!

Wow. They sure can go fuck themselves.

A friend of mine I previously only knew over the internet came up this weekend to visit my friend and I. What a great time. Strange thing about meeting internet friends in real life, there is no "warming to each other" period. You're already friends, so the chemistry is still there. What a great weekend.

We'll leave the last, chilling word to Sony Music Entertainment's Steve Heckler: "Once consumers can no longer get free music, they will have to buy the music in the formats we choose to put out." You have been warned. ®

How many times have I warned everybody about this!!!!!!!?????

The upcoming release "M/Y" has copyright notification that explicity gives permission to individuals to "rip encode host and share" the recordings on the release. This is one of the ways that Irdial-Discs is putting its money where its mouth is.

Everyone must also be acutely aware of exactly what equipment they are buying and what it can and cannot do. For example, recent Apple computers have been shipped with DVD drives that are not fully able to do what you would expect them to do, ie record what you want and do with it what you want. Be careful when you buy something; for example, when you buy a portable MP3 player, be sure that it REALLY IS an MP3 PLAYER. The SONY music stick (I think its called) only allows you to use crippled formats, and alows you to convert clean formats into crippled ones. Thats why you should not buy one of those pieces of crap.

Consumers need to protect themselvs by buing what is good for them, like Irdial-Discs music, which sounds good, looks good, and doesnt infringe on your rights as a human being.

How will we get paid?? Buy our t-shirs, hell, buy our CDs if youre into that. Send us cash (yes, people actually do that). Introduce our mailing list to your friends. If you want us to keep putting out music, thats all you have do do.

Tonight, I heard FOUR X6s, on 11.527 at 10:07 and 8053 at 10:18 and 7525 at 10:30 and 10.769 at 10:55.
The first two had the same tone sequence, the third and forth ones different tone sequences.
I have NEVER heard so many X6 transmissions ever in a single night. Hmmmmmmmmmm!
Also heard two loud Lincolnshire Poachers, an E10(VLB2), 5 E10s in progress, an E5, Buzzer, and for the first time ever, I heard a Chinese language numbers station, which possibly was New Star Broadcasting, on 8300. This night has been totally UNREAL. I have re posted this post 10 times, as I keep hearing stations.
