As a follow-up to the talk about old bootlegs we had here months ago, I have this little gem for you. Oddly, I was looking for the new Kent album in mp3 form (shame on me) by doing a google "index of" search, and came upon this website: http://128.4.132.29/ -They have a huge archive of Hot Tuna bootlegs (Hot Tuna are sort of successors to Jefferson Airplane. The sound is very bluesy, and there's a lot of acoustic songs, I like it, though I originally downloaded them for my father).

If you have wget, do this (and make sure you have a couple gigs free space, it's up to a gig so far and growing):
wget -r -np -l 0 -N "http://128.4.132.29/"

of geting pissed as i usually do i thought, so
what? so what? ok so, they have models and other
"desirable" types out there making it sexy and cool
and whatever else to $ell their $ellphones but
really who cares. they only people who would feel
driven or whatever to be dupped by this crap are
totally moronic boobs

so as far as i am concerned they deserve being duped for being
duped in the first place. additionally i don't think i ever go anywhere
where they would be selling anyway so screw the dummies who
buy into their system. that is their problem of which i am not afflicted.

i think this is a healthy attitude for me to take, at least for myself. because
i feel proud not even to want to notice their pathetic lame games. i am
not a part and not a parcel of that world of boobs. yeah for me and yeah
for free thinkers everywhere. in a way this should be a moment to be proud
for all of us!!

George Galloway is the one of the very few members of Parliament who speaks sensibly about Iraq. Read his column. Here is his list of affiliations and interests.

A BRAND NEW WAR

America is now planning a 250,000 troop invasion of Iraq - after first bombing the country for 60 days and nights.
Their justification for this is that Iraq is a 'rogue state' harbouring weapons of mass destruction. Although there is no evidence for this claim (please see the enclosed report), it is being repeated by Tony Blair and will be used to justify sending British troops into Iraq.

We must not accept the American line on this. Apart from the human damage of this war, the likely political fallout will be catastrophic. As Iraq gets blown to bits, the various fundamentalists and hardliners in the rest of the Arab world will have all the ammunition they need to convince people that the West really is the Great Satan - and to deprive moderate governments in the region of any credibility.

If America insists on prosecuting a cruel and stupid war we probably can't stop them, but they must do it alone, and not in our name.

Advertisers have always done things like that......a kind of product placement. I heard a story once that publishers paid people to ride the subway all day reading a particular book and to give off the impression that they were REALLY enjoying it. Book sales apparently did go up. What convinces you more to use a product than to see someone else 'enjoying' it?

I just heard a piece on the radio about Sony and Ericsson hiring actors to go to places like Disneyland and pose as tourists. Then they do something like ask a random person to take a picture of them in front of something (or some other such thing), whereas the person will notice their REALLY COOL ERICSSON PHONE-CAMERA THING.
Wow, that is so evil. So *very* evil! EVIL!

Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited. It's just so damn good.

The thing that we can’t and won’t pipe down about, though, is this critical need for newness: it’s as if Ezra Pound and his “make it new” mantra mesmerized the corpus criticalis and rendered it incapable of enjoying anything that didn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Well: screw Ezra Pound. Something need not be novel to kick total ass. All’s it has to do is, y’know, like, line all its targets up and then totally kick ass. Every hesher worth his salt knows this, and we are all heshers under the skin.

Ooops!
Very flippant comment on a very serious issue... who gets custody? This was bad enough before the genetic parents of the children were identified.... and now... How more could two couples be fucked up? What about the poor twins?
I'm not in favour of such widespread fertilization help. There are so many children who need parents through adoption for one thing, and I have seen what all this trying and trying does to couples... It would be better to let it go, accept nature, and give your love to one in need. And think what the NHS could do with all the saved money and time. Is it right, in a highly overpopulated world, to focus so much energy to allow people (from developed nations in the main) to bypass what is written in their genes about their ability to reproduce?

Hey, where's the evidence that says Rumsfeld isn't a terrorist? I'd say put that fucker in jail, right the fuck now.

And a short one that I can't be bothered to encrypt since it's totally short and not very spoiling: "Too bad. I've been changing some stuff around during today to make it prettier. I'll be working on it on and off this week, so if something doesn't work, check back later. It runs right at the moment."

The dearth of definitive proof of an Iraqi threat against America began to go international. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld appeared before NATO not long ago and demanded that they support America's looming Iraq war. Most of the NATO nations appeared ready to do so - they trusted that America's top defense official would not come before them and lie. But when they tried to ask questions of him about the basis for this war, Rumsfeld absolutely refused to answer any of them. Instead, he offered this regarding our utter lack of meaningful data to support a conflict: "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence."

I fell off my chair when I read this, and you all know why!

I have just installed the new RealOne player from RealAudio, for mac os x. It's... amazingly good. I had before boycotted Real because their software has notoriously SUCKED ASS. But this... it's small, unintrusive, and simple. One application, automatically opens your files and runs smoothly. Very nice. I am impressed, duly.

the last couple of weeks i have been in paris and reykjavik. work and play. beautiful places. i too fell in love with the streets, and when i got home tonight i had a minidisk sitting in an envelope which i am listening to and it has a streets track on it. also a track about a sentimental artist, which i may post the lyrics of here later.

as for smallfish gigs they usually do harddisk recordings of the live shows for archive, although the last show i was at (kitchen motors) fuzzucksorred up - the disk overflowed and the data was lost, so i may sneak my md into the mixer maybe. unless i'm in bath... or the bath...

wow this minidisk just sneaked in some yummy fur inbetween loads of electronika... and now there's a track about buffy... is she a vegetable or a mineral? oh no, it's muffy. she's a centerfold star now. this track is odd. i like it..

oh yeah, whilst in reykjavik i listened to a lot of A212 and gave it to a few icelandic kids.

more yummy fur? oh no, this is the male nurse....

Hey

I went to see "Game On" today at the Barbican - a great exhibition but quite patchy in some places (several versions of sega and nintendo ting, but only one zx spectrum for example!). Anyone else been?

Also saw the exhibition at the Curve gallery there too, which was not so great. And got hot and tired on the bus that replaced the tube between Baker Street and Moorgate due to King's Cross maintenance.

I'm going to Mauritius in September and have to get jabs on Tuesday. I haven't been injected like that since school. Eeeeeeek!
