Started comp sci at university of copenhagen. so busy and so little time and oh god jesus lord.

First kiss was with a girl I didn't feel attracted to and it was a stupid idea. I made sure to forget about it, but I still talk to her occasionally. I dunno if I hurt her feelings, I was too drunk and I'm an idiot. Then I went to America and had sex and that was pretty cool, even though I - again - was drunk as all hell and didn't really do a good job. It was okay though. I suppose that's what first times are like.

All this happened after I gave up and decided to be celibate and whack off a lot seing as how no girls were interested in me. Yep, true story.

I'll try to be here more...

A theoretical and practical investigation of the false-belief task

False-belief attribution is perhaps so interesting
to us because it indicates something which we consider to be a significant
and peculiarly human trait

The basic idea is this: in order to correctly answer the key question in a false-belief task, the subject must set aside what he/she knows to currently be the case, and consider a situation that does not currently obtain - namely that which forms the content of the other’s false belief. Older children do this: by successfully reporting someone else’s (or their own previous) mistaken belief, they refer to a non-actual or outdated state of affairs, they “invoke some counterfactual situation” (Harris and Leevers, 2000)

I hadn't done any live collage work for some time, but I'd been fooling with an idea that I came up with in the final days of my last job -- I figured out that the second Conet Project disc goes very well with the Ensemble ST-X performance of Iannis Xenakis' musical depiction of political demonstration Kraanerg, both time-wise and sound-wise. I've put them together at home several times since, in whole or in part. The juxtaposition between the two discs became the backbone of this collage.

idiot. and i could care less. but i like the sentiment of that banner.

Also stuff about the DSEI arms fair in the docklands this week. I remember two years ago, on September 11 I was at my (now ex) girlfriend's flat in Royal Victoria/Custom House, we happened to turn on the TV just as the first images were flickering on the screen. It was so surreal, especially with the sound of helicopters buzzing around outside. We thought this was a defensive measure against possible simultaneous attacks on Canary Wharf or City Airport, especially as the World Trade Centre Europe was being built in Canary Wharf then.

When I got the DLR back to my house from Custom House (which is right outside the ExCel centre where the arms 'fair' is held) the station was swarming with police, it was then I realised the helicopters were there for the protests.

I still feel sick that they carried on with the fair that day, and that they are carrying on with it now. Sometimes, most of the time, I think things will never change, and if they do it will be for the worst.

So learnt should be learned?

If you are American, or speaking American English then yes. Although when I read the word learned it has two syllables and means one who has knowledge or learning. I find it quite incredulous really, especially when someone speaking/spelling proper English is then chastised, as in your case Alun. More of that boisterous American ignorance I guess (troll warning!) thinking they know better than the rest of the world, when if they actually engaged their brains before their brawn/bank balance/Massed Armies of Destruction they might get a different picture.

But George, there were no terrorists in Iraq before March this year. Truth and consequences time.
However, the Great American Public continue to live the maxim 'never underestimate the gullibility of the masses'.... Seven in 10 Americans continue to believe that Iraq's Saddam Hussein had a role in the 11 September 2001 attacks, even though the Bush administration and congressional investigators say they have no evidence of this.

Wikipedia is amazing. But it should be called Wikipaedia.

This is a really interesting entry on the differences between English and American English. Apparently I should say British English, but I mean English English and thus just plain old proper English. Scottish English is not the same as Welsh or Northern Ireland English although that is probably just dialect. Anyway, I hate it when American's call English accents British accents. God I am so boring.

Apparently American English is so wrong because Noah Webster decided that speaking and spelling properly was too hard for Americans. Evidently even this revised, simplified (and therefore homogenised) form of English is too hard for the head of state to deal with. Perhaps someone can have another go?

I also learnt that spelled is not a misspelling and is, in fact, spelt correctly, if not a little stupidly.

Anyway, I think Americanisms are one of my biggest bugbears, but people who get really upset about things as trivial as this can be quite boring so I try not to vent my hatred too often. I find American English to be a lazy form of spelling and often American accents and dialects lack intonation and sometimes it seems like it such an effort for Americans to pronounce anything properly it just comes out as a monotonous slur. Obviously this is not true for all Americans, probably not even 99% of Americans., just the ones you see on TV. George Bush and 50 cent (I mean fiddy cent) for example.

I hate Estuary English too, especially when I find myself dropping Ts and Hs to fit in. Oh yeah, H is pronounced "aitch" not "haitch".

I am such a snob. I'm really not this bad in real life and I quite like the way culture evolves and adapts things to it's idiosyncratic wants.

Also I have found that youth has gained so much false importance that it is now a pre-requisite and henceforth is a stigma rather than a catalyst. Pop has eaten itself. My point of contention is that I feel too old already, that I'm past my prime before I even started. These days it seems you have done your best before you hit 20.

Oh I...have you got nothing to say

I wanna be Kate
Everyday she wars the same thing
I think she smokes pot
She's everything I want, She's everything I'm not
Oh. I...
Have you got nothing to say
She never gets wet
She smiles and it's a rainbow
And she speaks and she breathes
I wanna be Kate

She hands out the Bhagaved Gita
I see her around every couple days
I wanna meet her so that

OK, so he probably doesn't specialise in chemistry, and the article doesn't specify his specialist area, but I would expect it was either neurological or behavioral related... Anyway, as the experiment was dealing with chemicals as the main factor it would seem that making sure you have the right chemical compound is a fundamental part of the preparation.
