The mysterious lights in the sky over Archway

DOZENS of mysterious lights were spotted hovering in the sky above Archway – spreading panic among residents below.

Unidentified flying orange objects stopped traffic and left residents staring skyward in disbelief at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Islington police received four calls within a matter of minutes.

Witness Alix McAlister, 34, a market stall trader from Bredgar Road, Archway, said: “I just picked up my son from nursery in Bredgar Road. I had just come out of the door when I noticed what was going on in the sky.

“There were a group of them – 10 to 15 of them moving together. My first impression was that they reminded me of a squadron of aeroplanes in formation. But they didn’t have a proper formation and they were all moving at the same speed.

“I thought for a while that something was happening in the centre of London. Bombs and planes crossed my mind. But I realised very quickly that they didn’t look like any aircraft I’d seen before.

“They were coming from the north and moving south. And then they kind of stopped and they were hovering. There was no sound. They seemed to fade away and I saw more coming and then they stopped. It lasted about 10 minutes.”

Islington police informed Contact International UFO Research about the sightings. Soon after another witness contacted the Oxford-based organisation, which is devoted to solving the mystery of UFOs, and described what he saw.

A spokesman for Contact International said: “He told me he was picking his daughter up from school and he saw many people looking up in the air. Traffic had stopped and people were staring.

“He said he saw between 12 and 15 orange lights travelling across the sky. Then they would stop and then they went upwards.

‘UFO sighting really took my breath away’

WAS it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it was a shining silver pyramid, according to two colleagues who spotted a UFO in the skies of Putney last week.

Michelle Medhat was sitting at her office desk last Wednesday morning when she glanced out of the window and spotted a glimmering silver object in the sky.

“I thought what the hell is that?’ There were no clouds in the sky at all and 100 per cent visibility.

“The sun was hitting the object and you could see it was turning very slowly.

“I did get a feeling there was something strange about the thing,” she said.

Entranced, Michelle signalled to her colleague Peter Gardiner, 53, to take a look.

He said: “At first I thought it was a big piece of rubbish or a clear tarpaulin sheet.

“But then it glistened and it was shiny. It had a strange pattern of movement. It was a significant size, possibly the size of a roof or even a house.”

The pair watched it for a couple of minutes, rotating in the distance and heading towards Wandsworth Town. Then, as soon as it had appeared it vanished.

Michelle said if it was a piece of rubbish it would have caused severe damage when it came down, because of its size and density.

“I can’t explain it and therefore I’m calling it a UFO. It took my breath away. It did feel weird.

“The more I looked at it I realised there was something not quite right. It wasn’t moving like anything I’ve ever seen before,” she said.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it had not been notified of any sighting of the pyramid.

“The MoD does not have any expertise or role in respect of UFO/flying saucer’ matters or to the question of the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial lifeforms, about which it remains totally open-minded.”

He said it examined the reports of UFO sightings it received solely to establish whether what was seen might have some defence significance, namely whether there was any evidence the UK’s airspace might have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised air activity.

Michelle and Peter said there has been a lot of activity in the skies over Putney recently.

Michelle said they had seen several Chinook helicopters over the past week and believes something must be happening.

Chinooks are used to transport troops, artillery, supplies and equipment, but also used for operations such as medical evacuation, disaster relief and search and rescue.

When travelling to Putney, our reporter saw what looked to be three Apache helicopters travelling east.

A spokesman for the MoD said the helicopters were probably part of general aviation traffic over London and there was no specific activity or event they were involved in. He added such movements were “not unusual”.

Chinooks are flying over that part of London regularly. They make a very distinctive sound, and you can tell they are coming when they are miles away.

As for this pyramid account, well, when I saw that logo above whilst trawling around (as one does) I just couldnt resist!

Standing in large construction site on clear blue spring day. No clouds.

Noticed a strange object approaching from direct abeam. APX 2K ft. When object got close to over head angle I noticed that it was a blue disc with almost the same color of the sky but broken by contrast. On the bottom of this disc was a white silhouette of a small single engine aircraft. No protrusions, struts, markings, engine, prop halo or sound. Just a bland white silhouette on an obvious blue disc moving at a slow pace. there was no hindering noises.

I watched it slowly come and go constantly trying to readjust my perspective.

I was the only witness that had this perspective. I have thought about this for years. I became a professional pilot later and am now an International Captain for a Major Airline. I am convinced that my perspective was and is correct.

I have never in my long career over vast territories and continents seen another UFO.

You do know what this means don’t you? It means that if this story is true, that the occupants of this craft were like hunters in a duck blind, using camoflage to get close to their quarry.

This means that these particular people cared about the effect that a sighting would have on the the people on the ground. This is different from using invisibility (projecting the sky above on the undersurface of the disc), because the occupants are deliberately trying to mislead, and not simply hiding.

I have never read of a case like this ever.
