I’d got for the (serious) money talks explanation. ?The missing square would be a London home of the Sultan of Brunai (was/still is the richest man in the world?). Rumour is that he keeps some British wives here. There are certainly some swings and other playground equipment inside, plus a rather cool looking aerial ropeslide in the trees that you can see from the road.
A friend of mine flew his son’s RC plane over the wall. Went up to one of the little gates in the long wall, spoke to a security guy on the entry phone, and an hour later was buzzed through an outer door into a lobby (with another locked door ahead) His plane was waiting for him on the path.
I used to live near there, in South Ealing, just to the south west of the black square is an a really cool looking industrial complex, something to do with aggregates I think. Looks like final scene in Robocop, which is actually Zug Island in Detroit.
